Iranian couple left Canada behind to make a rose garden in Iran

Mehdi Farivar Mohseni and Parvaneh Khodaverdi are an entrepreneur couple living in the Iranian province of Markazi, who have left their life in Canada to make their dream come true.

They started making a rose garden and producing rose water (Golab in Persian) in 2013. Based in the city of Sarouq, the couple is distributing more than 40 products in different parts of Iran including Shahroud, Isfahan, and Birjand.

Khodaverdi says, “we were deeply interested in planting flowers and my husband chose rose (aka Mohammadi Flower in Iran) because it needs less water and it can be a source of income".

She says at first none of the women in Sarouq helped her and she had to plant all the flowers alone. The couple tried to persuade other farmers to plant rose flowers but they needed a guarantee that their money comes back.  So the couple had to buy all their harvest.

After many ups and downs, the couple now has 6 hectares of rose flowers; and during harvesting time, a number of 30 people work on their farm every day.
